Five Weeks

Ran through George Wyth with Ruby today.

36 min run ~ Google Earth puts it at about 3.3 miles

Weigh-in: 182 lbs. God DAMN it!

Ran to 2nd and Washington with Ruby. It was getting a little dark for running with Ruby off-leash, but she did a great job. I did snicker at the fact that my route ended up passing me directly in front of the police station, with an unleashed dog. Whoops!

Worked out at the Rec Center again. But I learned one thing: if the Shuffle runs out of battery, I have a harder time with motivation during a workout. Doesn't matter if it's music or podcasts, but having something to listen to makes the workouts easier.

Man, Ruby's a good dog. She stuck right next to me the entire time, for another run.

26 min run - I'd guess the distance to be 2.5 - 3 miles.

Took Ruby for a run today. First time I've run with her; it went really well. This'll be fun.

Run about 20 minutes - not sure of distance; I'd guess around 1.5 - 2 miles.

After a long hiatus, I got a workout in today. Went to the YMCA in Hastings - man, that's a nice facility.

3x10 - 35 lb shoulder press
3x10 - 70 lb lat pulldown
15 min Stairmaster

Also ran around in their maze for several minutes. That's the best workout yet!

20 min treadmill - there are only two good Stairmaster machines, and both were taken

Weight check: 181 lb - Sigh. Of course, I ate like crap this week, so it's not surprising.

You know when the worst possible time to go to the Rec Center is? 5 PM on a weekday, apparently. Machines are all taken - waiting in line for the crappiest machines makes it hard to keep motivation up...

Morning workout - I didn't know my alarm clock ever showed 5 AM - I don't think I've ever seen it before. The Rec Center is busy in the mornings; it's hard to find open machines.

$110 - I'm committed

A good motivator: feeling like I'm not wasting my money. I spent $110 on a membership to the Cedar Falls Rec Center, so now I have to go, or I'll know I just flushed that money away, right? Right?

Don't have a specific plan to get ready for Longs at this point, but I know that last year I felt like some time spent on a Stairmaster would have been useful. So tonight's workout was:
  • 10 min Stairmaster - 5 floors/min
  • 3 sets each on some weight machines - I'll have to learn the names of these, won't I?
  • 20 min on the elliptical trainer - weight loss program, level 2
  • 1/2 mile walking on the track to cool down
